Expert review of Port de Sóller
An upmarket resort with a bay that is almost enclosed by two headlands, meaning you’re guaranteed calm water all year round. Its two beaches are rather small with shingle rather than sand, and get crowded in high summer, but are good for fun with a bucket and spade. Think of it then as a pleasant town with the added attraction of a beach, good choice for families as there’s plenty to explore if lying in the sun all day is not your bag, with a handful of water sports like diving and boat trips, pleasant walks out to the lighthouse and endless restaurants to choose from for lunch.
Check out the Escola d’Esports Nàutics (www.nauticsoller.com) for sea kayaking, windsurfing and sailing excursions. Barcos Azules (www.barcosazules.com) offer boat trips around the pretty bay and stop at the more secluded beach of Sa Calobra. It costs 22 euros for a round trip.
