Expert review of Rockefeller Center
Wonderful views and I love the tree lit up at Christmas.
Part of the original economic stimulus project, the 14 Art Deco buildings of Rockefeller Center were conceived by John D. Rockefeller in the nadir of the Great Depression as a way to create jobs and develop a commercial center in the heart of Manhattan. If you’re here during the Christmas season, you shouldn’t miss the massive Christmas tree that is one of New York’s holiday icons and the sunken ice skating rink. The views from the newly reopened “Top of the Rock” observation deck (entrance on 50th Street between 5th and 6th Avenues) might even be better than the Empire State Building.

Fabulous views from the Top of the Rock Observation Deck - the fact you're not up the Empire State Building means you get a good view of it, plus its mid-town location gives you a fantastic panorama over Central Park. You can book timed tickets in advance at www.topoftherocknyc.com ($21 for adult tickets or $30 at sunrise or sunset).
