Expert review of Playa Las Cucharas
Lanzarote's top windsurfing beach is a haven for sunbathers too.
I think Costa Teguise's main beach is very special. Not only are the golden sands lined with sunbeds perfect for sunlovers, but it is also one of the best spots for windsurfing, as well as kitesurfing on the island. Although it gets consistently good winds, making it ideal for certain sports, the breakwaters off shore create calm waters for swimming. The 650-metre-stretch of sand popular with both locals and visitors has good facilities, and a number of windsurfing schools for sporty types.
Price advice:
There is a nominal fee to rent sunbeds and parasols on the beach, although you could of course lie on the sand and bring your own shade. Windsurfing and Kitesurfing prices depend on the season, but it is always worth bargaining.
Expert tips:
Consider spending a day here, having lunch in one of the beachfront restaurants, trying your hand at a spot of windsurfing and then relaxing on the sands.
This beach is noticeably busier during weekends.
