With all the beauty that surrounds you in Dubrovnik, it’s worth taking some time out to reflect. This thought-provoking gallery stages exhibitions by photo-journalists from war zones around the world. Superbly curated, recent shows include ‘Troubled Islam’, which examined the damaged lives of civilians in Bosnia, Palestine, Iraq, Chechnya and Afghanistan, and ‘Purple Hearts’, which looked at retired US soldiers who had fought in international war zones. There’s also a permanent exhibition dedicated to the recent conflict and subsequent break up of Yugoslavia. Not for the faint-hearted, but it's painfully human. You’ll find it in the old town just off Placa, two blocks down from Stari Grad hotel.
