Expert review of Šunj beach
Sandy beach on Lopud, just a short ferry ride from Dubrovnik.
This crescent of pale-golden sand gives onto a blissfully unspoilt bay. The seabed is soft and the water shallow - you can wade out for 100m before swimming, making it ideal for kids. On the beach, there are a couple of makeshift bars serving drinks and snacks, and the north end of the beach is nudist-friendly. You’ll find it on the southeast coast of the car-free island of Lopud, a lovely 25-minute walk through dense Mediterranean planting from La Villa in Lopud Town, which lies a 40-minute ferry ride from Dubrovnik’s Gruž harbour.

Expert tips:
You can visit Lopud as part of an organised excursion from Dubrovnik, but travelling by Jadrolinija public ferry is cheaper and more flexible.
