Expert review of Restaurante Bar Playa
No frills restaurant bang on the beach - in one of the best locations in Lanzarote.
I'll be honest, I picked this restaurant for the location as much as the food. Don't get me wrong, the food is fine, but it is its spot right on a little pier on the beach that means it gets my vote. It's popular with divers, who can be seen setting off from the pier and coming in to eat hungrily after peeling off their wetsuits (and getting in to regular clothes).
Food and drink:
There is nothing fancy on the large menu here: fresh fish, decent salads, simple sandwiches, all local or Spanish style, but it is all done well. The house wine I had was very decent and there is good coffee served here too.
Ambience:
Most people choose to eat al fresco at one of the plastic tables, with the sun on their faces and fine people watching. There is also an air conditioned restaurant, which is very attractive - that was empty on the sunny lunchtime I visited.
Service:
The round waiter who served us was fast on his feet yet still managed to smile during the busy lunchtime rush. You may find someone is waiting for your table, though, so don't expect to be able to hang around for too long after you have finished your meal.

It's on the pier next to a small beach in the resort of Puerto del Carmen.
Price advice:
A parrillada mixta - a mixed plate of fish (three different kinds) with some salad was a very reasonably priced 12 euros, especially as it was big enough for two. A very drinkable glass of wine was just a couple of euros. Annoyingly, we were charged for bread, even though we didn't order it, although that is pretty much par for the course in Spain.
