Expert review of Puerto Bahia
I think this restaurant has to have one of the best locations in the resort, on a little 'nose' jutting out to sea, in the middle of the old town. Fish and seafood are faultless, but it is hard to go wrong with anything from the extensive menu. I love to have a leisurely lunch here on the terrace looking out to sea, drinking cold white local wine.
The only problem is knowing what to choose from the large menu which features tapas, pizzas, soups, salads....All of it is good, but it is the fish and seafood that stand out.
I suggest tapas of razor clams or octopus, and perhaps goats' cheese with mojo sauce. Follow with fish, simply grilled – ask your waiter for a recommendation for what is good that day.
The atmosphere of this restaurant is bright and breezy, particularly on the promenade terrace.
The waiting staff seem to be struggling a little, partly because of the increasingly grumpy maitre d'.
Right on the seafront, it's in the old town in the resort of Puerto del Carmen.
Mains go for between 9 euros and 17 euros.
I like the tables on the terrace, although street hawkers peddling their wares right next to where you are eating can be annoying.
