Expert review of Sushi Yasuda
For classic Japanese-style, no nonsense sushi I head to Sushi Yasuda where Chef Naomichi Yasuda painstakingly handpicks each of his fish from a selection flown in from Japan and domestically.
The result is some of the best quality sushi in the world, with seven selections of tuna, from bigeye to bluefin, and hard to find varieties like seki-saba, a rare form of mackerel.
A cool minimalist space, and reserved business crowd.
The only downsides are a rather officious staff (yes I did ask for a California roll).
The street front location in Midtown makes it perfect for a business meal.
Sushi doesn’t get any more expensive than this. Rolls from US$8 and a three-course meal without wine is about US$42 per person.
The best service (and best show) is definitely at the sushi bar.
