Best for Value for money - Expert review of Casa Siam
Authentic Thai cuisine with smiling service.
Many of the expats I know drive from miles away to come to this little restaurant, which offers all the classic dishes you would expect with some good local wines and friendly staff. Despite being on the top floor of a rather scruffy shopping centre, inside is a little taste of Thailand, with carved hardwood furniture and fresh orchids.
Food and drink:
I have eaten the Gang Keaw Goong (Thai green curry with king prawns) on a couple of occasions, and it has never failed to disappoint. In fact, if I took a mouthful and closed my eyes, I could almost believe I was on the Khao San Road in Bangkok. I tend to go for the Bermejo Malvasia Dry, a crisp, reasonably priced option that goes with most of the dishes on the menu.
Recommended dishes:
Chicken satay is a real favourite as a starter and while typical Thai spicy soups might not be an obvious choice in Lanzarote’s climate, their fresh, aromatic flavours can be surprisingly refreshing. Casa Siam’s rice is always as it should be – fluffy and steaming hot.
Ambience:
The clean, bright interior features authentic Thai decoration, making for a pleasurable dining experience. On occasion, groups of lads can be a little noisy.
Service:
The Thai staff here are attentive and helpful.
Location:
It's on the top floor of a small shopping centre, in the centre of the resort, on the busy main drag of Avenida De La Playas.
Price advice:
Starters are around 5 euros, with main courses around 10 euros. There is a very good value special menu, with a choice of a starter and a main for just 10 euros.
