Expert review of Lungarno Suites
Stylish, riverside aparthotel near the Ponte Vecchio.
I would recommend a stay here for anyone who doesn’t want to be tied to the routines and constraints of hotel living, but still feels they want to benefit from four-star comfort and service. These up-market, oh-so-stylish apartments are part of the Ferragamo group and were designed by hotel-interiors guru Michele Bonan. It’s a good choice for longer stays too.
Suites range in size from the studios, sleeping two, to the two-room deluxe suites that sleep four, making the latter an ideal choice for families. Living spaces and bedrooms are done out in Bonan’s typical cool yet comfortable classic-meets-modern style and kitchenettes are cleverly concealed behind slatted wooden doors.
Location:
Fabulous; the building is set on the north bank of the Arno, very close to the Ponte Vecchio. Walk out the door and you are practically anywhere you want to be within ten minutes.
Bedrooms:
Bedrooms run seamlessly into the living areas. The studios are all-in-one spaces comprising bed, sitting area, eating table and kitchenette, while the larger suites are made up of bedroom plus living room with double sofa beds. It goes without saying that the best rooms have river views and some have terraces. I was surprised to see that the compact kitchenettes are all supplied with small fridge, microwave, dishwasher, espresso/cappuccino machine and basic breakfast supplies. All rooms have CD and DVD players and free internet access.

Eating and drinking:
Self-catering here doesn’t mean you have to get involved in any of the bore of shopping or washing up; your shopping will be done for you and a maid will clean up. Breakfast and meals from the Fusion restaurant of the Gallery Hotel Art can be brought to your suite on request.

Just what you would expect from Ferragamo hotel: discreet, efficient and respectful.
