Small and stylish, this b&b lies yards from Via Tornabuoni’s designer shops.
I first saw this little locanda just after it opened in 2009 and I was really impressed. One of a number of upmarket b&bs to emerge in Florence in recent years, it packs lots of style into a small space. The owners have taken a typical old Florentine apartment and put it into a contemporary context, creating a stylish yet cosy haven of grey, slate, black and white (inspired by the over-sized black and white photos of Florence hanging on the walls) and filled with a mix of contemporary design pieces, antiques from the family vaults and re-worked fleamarket finds.
It all feels a bit like staying at the chic flat of an interior designer friend. With a name like this, there has to be a Floroom 1, and indeed there is. Floroom 2’s sister b&b, which shares many of the characteristics of her younger sibling, is located in a quiet sidestreet in the Oltrarno.
Location:
Floroom occupies the second floor of an apartment in a characteristic street just off the shopping Mecca of Via Tornabuoni. Note, there’s no lift.
Bedrooms:
The same colour palette of moody greys/black/white is carried into the bedrooms, which vary in size and price. No. 6 is the smallest (and it really is small); no. 8 is big enough for an extra bed. Slick, swish bathrooms are hidden behind sliding, smoked-glass doors.
