Tigerlily just shouts Party Party Party! If hotels were people, this would be Paris Hilton.
When this opened the locals looked askance and thought Tigerlily? What a daft name for a hotel! Happily all cynics have been silenced as the success of the place has gone from strength to strength. Expect the unpexpected at Tigerlily, with interiors that make your head turn. No two rooms are the same and some offer extras such as preloaded iPods, video spas and open fires. This place will make you smile and to cap it all, this hotel also has the funkiest bar in town, plus Lulu - a great nightclub in the basement.

On the most happening street in town, George Street.
Bedrooms:
When you hear the words wet room and video spas you know this is not your average local gaff. There are 33 bedrooms of all different shapes, sizes and prices. Crisp white linen, upholstered bed heads, wooden floors, flashes of warm vibrant fabric in curtains and soft furnishings. All lovely, all a little bit different. This is no chain experience.
My favourite is The Black Room: dramatically dark with its suspended egg chair, open fire and preloaded iPod. Of course this is just my latent love of all things fabulous!

Public areas:
Lots of choice of atmosphere and area. You've got the high bar stool, with a glitzy shiny surface, or the low comfy couches for a bloody Mary and a read of the papers. There are booths for a snack or dining tables for something more formal. Have a go at sitting outside under the giant black parasols on George Street people watching in the summer - it's a hoot.
Eating and drinking:
Tigerlily's sparkling, glamorous bar has three main areas. The overall feeling is disco frenzy circa 1980s. There is a cocktail bar, larger lounge bar and dining area. Each styled differently but open plan and busy busy busy.
Lulu, the nightclub in the lower ground floor of the hotel, is the place people want to see and be seen in Edinburgh. Queues are likely at the weekends but if you like a cocktail and a shimmy you will have found your spiritual home here.
