Expert review of Hotel Beatriz Costa and Spa
Great value luxury hotel, with the island's best spa and superb leisure facilities.
I find it hard to fault this large, impressive hotel from a very reliable hotel chain. The hulking modern building boasting a large, state-of-the-art spa is surrounded by extensive gardens and enormous swimming pools - just some of the reasons I and so many guests keep coming back for more. I particularly recommend the excellent value all-inclusive deals.
Location:
The hotel is on a hill, about a 15-minute walk to the beach and shops of the large resort of Costa Teguise.
Bedrooms:
The 300 or so rooms are spacious, clean and all have a terrace. Some could do with being renovated, so ask to have a look before being allocated. Go for a room on the upper floor if you treasure peace and quiet: those on the first and second floors can suffer from noise from the pool and bar areas.

Public areas:
The lovely, large public areas of the hotel are some of its best features. I love the exuberant Interior gardens with waterfalls and lakes. There are also large, well equipped conference rooms.
Eating and drinking:
The buffet restaurant is my favourite eating option, offering all the international favourites as well as some Canarian specialities. However, there is a more formal, a la carte restaurant that is also very good, plus a pool bar (that shuts at 5pm), as well as a decent bar open in the evening.
Leisure facilities:
The leisure features are where this hotel really comes into its own. The facilities at the spa are seemingly endless: the thalassotherapy centre is made up of three distinct areas, one with waterfalls, Turkish baths and relaxation pools, a second with thermal showers and treatment cabins and a third with a flotarium, where facials are given and yoga classes take place. Enjoy relaxing in the extensive tropical gardens and enormous, lake-like saltwater swimming pools or get active on one of three tennis courts, two squash courts or the mini-golf course. Guests with kids can make use of the babysitting service. The hotel also boasts a hairdressers, Internet access, disco (open only weekly) and live music nightly.
Service:
The people who work here are generally very helpful, especially considering the size of this hotel, although some of them seem rather overworked.

Who stays there:
Business travellers, wedding guests, couples, honeymooners and families make up the clientele. A large proportion of guests are Spanish.
Price advice:
It is well worth upgrading to an all-inclusive deal – which is very good value and even includes entry to the superb spa.

Cons:
As this is such a large hotel, it can involve a lot of walking around
The pools are only saltwater (no freshwater)
Air conditioning is lacking in some of the bedrooms and public areas
